Welfare Benefits and Back to Work Support – training available

Cambridgeshire County Council and JCP are delivering half day sessions on Welfare Benefits and Back to Work Support training.

Course Aim:

By the end of the session, participants will:

  • Hear about what benefits are available for the people you work with?
  • Find out where can you go to get more information and advice about them?
  • Find out what welfare reform has meant for benefit claimants
  • Hear from Job Centre Plus about the claimant commitment for job  seekers
  • Discuss real case studies with real Job Centre Plus Advisers

This workshop aims to help you to be more able to understand the welfare benefit system for your clients, and to be able to signpost them to sources of advice and support.

The workshop will also help you to understand how Job Centre Plus works with your unemployed clients, and the sources of support and sanctions they can apply. The impact of the recent reforms to the welfare benefit system means that for many, their benefits payments no longer cover their living expenses. This makes it all the more important for you to understand how to work better with Job Centre Advisers to help your clients back into the workplace.
